There is no perfect pregnancy, birth, or parent—and yet we rarely hear the REAL stories. Until now.

Purpose is thrilled to share that we have partnered with March of Dimes to launch Unspoken Stories: Honest conversations of pregnancy, parenthood and loss, a new podcast. It only takes hearing one story like your own to know you are not alone.

The podcast will feature a series of real stories, told in a 3-episode series, available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts. The series launched with the first episode on July 16th, with the other episodes being released through the end of July.

These brave moms and dads have the courage to speak up and share their laughter, tears and triumphs so that no one has to feel alone in their experience.  We see a lot of perfect images of pregnancy, birth and parenting, but more and more people are standing up to tell their stories.

Join mom, actress and advocate, Tatyana Ali (of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) to hear real stories about the joys and humor of parenting to the heartbreak and loneliness of miscarriage and loss. Each episode features a parent’s honest story about the realities of starting a family.

The podcast aims to reach a diverse group of parents and those who are considering being parents, and those who help people become and support parents.

The launch of the podcast was featured by Romper, highlighting the story of actress Jamie Lynn Sigler, which will be available in an upcoming episode.

March of Dimes is creating a movement to support the health of moms and babies everywhere. To do that, we need to change the conversation. Unspoken Stories will tell real stories from real parents about what happens when things don’t go according to plan. Through sharing these often unshared stories, we can connect and support parents, build community, and help change the norms that keep moms and babies from having the best possible start.

This past spring, March of Dimes launched Unspoken Stories, which has proven to be a supportive community that gives voice to the real experiences of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.  This campaign has raised awareness of these stories told in their own words, and allowed the community to stand up in support of each other.  Part of the initiative included hosting Unspoken Conversations, which are intimate gatherings with friends, family, co-workers, or community members where guests can share stories, and have open and honest conversations about anything from miscarriage to returning to work after having a baby.

March of Dimes and Purpose launched the Unspoken Stories podcast to be a center-piece of the initiative — which includes a multi-channel digital campaign, on-site activations across the country, and media & influencer partnerships to build a movement to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies.

The first episode in the series features the story of Petina, and how when she started having contractions at 24 weeks, things were definitely not going to plan. Listen to her story and how she goes on to have the family she’s always dreamed of.

“People still don’t talk about a lot of this stuff, even though it’s more common than we think than we would ever know. And just the act of sharing it can help somebody feel like they’re not alone”
