Purpose Wins Indigo Design Awards for Social Change Campaigns

Purpose is thrilled to share that our creative work around the world has been recognized by the 2021 Indigo Design Awards in the Design for Social Change category!
We are proud to share the nine Purpose campaigns that were recognized this year, and want to extend our congratulations and appreciation to our creative team and partners that made it possible!
The Indigo Design Awards promote global creativity by recognizing projects that are unique in graphic design, digital, mobile, and game design every year. Their Design for Social Change category highlights projects that use design and creativity to advance social issues and create impact.
Verified – Gold for Integrated Graphic Design for Social Change
Purpose and the United Nations launched Verified in 2020 to combat the growing scourge of COVID-19 misinformation and provide accurate, lifesaving information. Verified distributes trusted information and changes media consumption practices to reduce the spread of misinformation online. To date, the Verified campaign has reached 1 billion people in over 130 countries, in collaboration with over 250 organizations.

Biodiversity by the Bay is a climate campaign initiated by Purpose Climate Lab intended to inspire young Indians to use their creativity and collective power to fight for Mumbai’s biodiversity. Using a creative, identity-driven aesthetic, we worked to connect the identity of Mumbai to its incredible biodiversity, and provide young people with a way to use their creative and digital skills to protect it.
It’s Your Call UK – Silver for Integrated Graphic Design for Social Change
It’s Your Call calls on young people to forge their path and carve out sustainable careers in the North East of England. The campaign empowers the next generation of grafters with a chance to pioneer the future of their towns by calling for careers in sustainability.
Bank for Good – Bronze for Integrated Graphic Design for Social Change
Bank for Good is a movement fighting for climate justice and ethical finance—demanding that we all divest from fossil fuels. Bank for Good encourages and helps consumers to switch to financial institutions that do not invest in fossil fuels by matching users to banks that match their values and needs.
Swasth Mahila, Swasth Bihar – Gold in Digital Design for Social Change
Swasth Mahila, Swasth Bihar (Healthy Women, Healthy Bihar) highlights the need for women in Patna, India to receive health services, in particular family planning services with care and dignity at all times, not just in crisis. The campaign’s visual language drew inspiration from local and traditional art forms such as Manjusha art, Madhubani painting and Sujini embroidery.
Freedom from Torture, We Won’t Stop – Silver for Branding for Social Change
We Won’t Stop is part of a wider collaboration between Purpose and Freedom from Torture to reinvigorate the anti-torture movement in the UK and to uplift torture survivors’ stories. The campaign mirrors the bold, unabashed strength that survivors rebuild over time whilst under Freedom from Torture’s care and invites the UK public to take a stand against torture.
KABOOM! – Silver for Branding for Social Change
Purpose partnered with KABOOM! to create a new visual and verbal identity that would equip them to achieve their mission of closing the equity space gap across US cities. The new brand helped further position KABOOM! as a leader in community, play, and equity.

Clean Mobility Shift – Bronze for Branding for Social Change
Clean Mobility Shift is an online platform built to inform people about the ways in which India can transform into a global leader in clean mobility adoption and deployment. The platform serves as a knowledge hub that tracks progress in the clean mobility space and makes complex and technical information accessible.
Livelihood Cyclists of Delhi: A Snapshot – Silver for Illustration for Social Change
This series of infographics were designed by Purpose Climate Lab to visualize data-driven insights around the experiences and challenges of livelihood cyclists in Delhi, India. “Livelihood cyclists” are citizens who depend on cycling to commute to work and earn their livelihood.
