When It Comes to Climate Action, Go Big or Go Home
May 15, 2018
#StepUp2018 is a coalition campaign that aims to ramp up climate action by pushing companies and governments to make bigger and more aggressive climate commitments.
The coalition partners — including Climate Action Network, World Resource Institute, World Economic Forum and others — are engaging supporters and decision makers around big moments and convenings this year like Davos, The G20, The Bonn Climate Talks, The Global Climate Action Summit and COP24.
The campaign had messengers and messages, moments and ambition — but no cohesive creative resources to tie it all together. This need presented an opportunity for us to add value to grow this crucial message, and of course we couldn’t turn down a chance to make Trump look even more out of “step” in the world.
Working with the coalition, we developed an energetic campaign identity and creative assets that could be easily deployed and adapted by all the partners.
This allowed partners to amplify the campaign with a unified look and feel for messages, displays, social content… and even a literal football to encourage decision makers to kick bigger against climate change.

2017 saw devastation from climate-related disasters with vulnerable communities disproportionately affected. There is a window of opportunity to act, and it is now. #StepUp2018 to enhance climate goals by 2020 #SB48Bonn @CANEurope pic.twitter.com/hYMvHFInTc

The Step Up display was a big hit at the recent Bonn Climate Talks, and we look forward to seeing how the coalition uses it to build momentum throughout the year.

The @COP24 climate talks in Poland need a 'balanced' outcome that includes robust guidelines for implementing the #ParisAgreement and a clear commitment for countries to enhance their national climate plans by 2020. We cannot go forward with just one #stepup2018 #SB48Bonn pic.twitter.com/ZbnMsE6dAg
