We partnered with Fondation L’Oréal to launch the Women Climate Collective, a community to celebrate and raise female voices in climate action and leadership.
Fondation L’Oréal has long contributed to global climate action, and they recognized the lack of women’s voices in climate action leadership. As Purpose discussed the challenge with them, we observed a complicating factor: the gender and climate movements are quite diverse and various, lacking a cohesive platform to support necessary breakthroughs toward gender-inclusive climate action. We saw this as an opportunity.
By amplifying the inspiring stories of women responding to the climate crisis in India, and pairing this with a supportive community interested in gender and climate, we built a public movement around women’s climate leadership and women-inclusive climate action — thereby creating a more representative and women-inclusive climate ecosystem.
The creative concept highlighted women climate leaders through vibrant storytelling and design. Using bold imagery, a warm color palette, and inspiring visuals, we crafted a campaign to amplify the voices of 16 women champions. A dynamic microsite, engaging social media graphics, videos, and personalized messaging connected with audiences, fostering a sense of empowerment and community. This approach brought women-inclusive climate action to the forefront, inspiring collective engagement.
We designed a campaign for long-term impact, spotlighting 16 of India’s most promising women climate champions to lead the next generation of climate actors and foster a community of women passionate about climate and gender activism. Using storytelling as the foundation, we created a social media campaign featuring a video, microsite, and organic partnerships to connect and engage women. To sustain engagement, we nurtured an online community of 1,500+ women who actively participated in events, hosted AMAs, and employed other tactics to amplify their work. This campaign provided a scalable model to grow the community and sustain meaningful conversations, inspiring continued action in this space.
In Phase 1, we spotlighted 16 women climate champions and built an engaged online community of over 3,300 members. Through compelling storytelling and communications, we amplified the vision of women leading the fight for climate action, reaching more than 5.4 million people and empowering women worldwide to drive inclusive climate solutions. As partners, we created a safe and unique space for action-driven women to come together, learn through expert-led sessions, and engage in critical conversations about climate change.
The project exceeded expectations, achieving 3X its goal for community size and 3X its media coverage target, with features in major outlets such as the Times of India and Radio One. Most importantly, it fostered a vibrant and thriving community of women at the forefront of climate action.
